Willard wins Inaugural BAA Invitational Mile

BOSTON - Anna Willard, the 2008 US Olympic Trials 3000m Steeplechase champion, won the Inaugural BAA Invitational Mile, held on the eve of the 113th Boston Marathon. Willard, a native of Greenwood, Maine, sat behind Olympic bronze medalist Shalane Flanagan for the first two laps of the three lap circuit, before kicking past the local favorite to win her first road race since moving her training base to California.
