Background
Chris Lukezic wasn't all that well known in college, but that changed in a hurry after he finished second to Alan Webb, an occasional training partner, at the 2005 US Championships. Chris went on to get the “A” standard and then make the 1500-meter semifinal at the World Championships, after which he realized it was time to turn pro. In 2006, Chris won his first national title, indoors at 1500 meters, and lowered his personal best by almost two seconds. He finished 2006 ranked the #2 American at 1500m and the Mile.
Last year, Chris's season was curtailed by a severe bout of bronchitis after the disappointment of finishing fourth at nationals, one spot shy of making the World Championships team. "At the end of the day, all I can do is put my energy into the things I can control and ignore the things I can't," he replied, when asked what he'd learned from the experience. "Good days and bad days will happen, but neither will ultimately define who I am in life."
An information technology major, Chris is a man of many interests with a decided entrepreneurial bent. In the future, he would like to own a coffee shop/wine bar/bookstore, which would also address his passion for design and architecture. |
